SJPNL is committed to provide potable quality water to its consumers. The water quality is strictly monitored at raw water stage, water treatment plants, and bulk reservoirs and at the consumer end. The physical and chemical tests are conducted at each water treatment plant to ensure the treatment process is followed as per stipulated norms and guidelines. The biological tests are conducted at the Dhalli (Shimla) Lab operated by Irrigation and Public Health Department of Government of Himachal Pradesh. The microbiological are conducted at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla. The SJPNLgets the water tested for virological presence from National Institute of Virology (NIV) of Pune. Besides the water standards prescribed in IS: 10500 The SJPNL ensures residual cholorine of more than 0.02ppm at the consumer end. For effective disinfection of water gaseous cholirinators are installed in all schemes.
